Minneapolis: Minnesota Orchestra

Music has long been a pathway to healing and a means of expression. Anxiety is part of the human condition and through music, we can share our experiences, find comfort, and discover more about ourselves and each other. In this concert, Principal Conductor of Live at Orchestra Hall Sarah Hicks explores how music can be a tool of both expression and healing. The program will feature the world premiere of Serenity by Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute alumnus Molly Joyce, inspired by audience responses to their own experiences with managing anxiety and finding inner peace. Singer-songwriter Chastity Brown, who has garnered acclaim for her frank and poignant treatment of mental health in her music, will join the Orchestra for a set of new songs. Mariann Johnson, University of Minnesota Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing mindfulness and wellbeing instructor, will also lead the audience in a guided meditation accompanied by the Minnesota Orchestra.
